Last Updated: May 15, 2025
At AudioVibe, we are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and safeguard your information when you use the AudioVibe - Music Player application ("the App"). By using the App, you agree to the terms outlined in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
1. Information We Collect
The AudioVibe - Music Player is designed to function primarily offline, accessing local music files on your device. We collect minimal information to provide and improve the App's functionality. The types of information we may collect include:
a. Personal Information
- No Personal Information Collected: The App does not require you to provide personal information such as your name, email address, or phone number. We do not create user accounts or collect identifiable personal data.
b. Non-Personal Information
- Local Music Files: The App accesses music files stored on your device to play them. This includes metadata such as song titles, artist names, album names, and album art, which are retrieved from the files themselves.
- App Settings: We store your preferences locally on your device, including:
- Equalizer settings (e.g., preset selections, band levels).
- Timer settings (e.g., duration for stopping playback).
- Playback preferences (e.g., shuffle mode, repeat mode).
- Usage Data: We may collect anonymized data about how you interact with the App, such as:
- Frequency of feature usage (e.g., equalizer, timer).
- Crash reports and diagnostic information to improve App performance.
- Device Information: We may collect non-identifiable device information, such as:
- Device model and operating system version (e.g., Android 14).
- App version.
c. Permissions
The App requires the following permissions to function:
- Storage/Media Access: To access and play music files stored on your device.
- Foreground Service: To enable background music playback and notifications.
These permissions are requested only when necessary, and you can manage them through your device settings.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the collected information solely to provide, maintain, and improve the App’s functionality:
- Playing Music: To access and play your local music files and display associated metadata (e.g., song titles, album art).
- Customizing Experience: To save and apply your equalizer and playback settings for a personalized experience.
- Timer Functionality: To store and manage timer settings for stopping playback, including persisting timers across app restarts.
- Improving the App: To analyze anonymized usage data and crash reports to fix bugs, optimize performance, and enhance features.
- Notifications: To display playback controls and status in the notification bar.
We do not use your information for advertising, profiling, or any purpose unrelated to the App’s core functionality.
3. How We Store and Protect Your Information
a. Data Storage
- Local Storage: All data (music metadata, equalizer settings, timer settings) is stored locally on your device using secure methods, such as Room database with encryption for sensitive settings.
- No Cloud Storage: We do not upload or store your data on external servers or cloud services.
- Timer Persistence: Timer settings are stored locally to resume across app restarts but are deleted when the timer expires or is canceled.
b. Data Security
We take reasonable measures to protect your data:
- Encryption: Sensitive settings (e.g., timer data) are stored in an encrypted database.
- Minimal Data Collection: We collect only the data necessary for the App’s functionality, reducing the risk of exposure.
- No Third-Party Sharing: We do not share your data with third parties, except as described in Section 4.
However, no method of storage is 100% secure. If you believe your data has been compromised, please contact us immediately (see Section 9).
4. Sharing Your Information
We do not sell, trade, or share your information with third parties, except in the following limited circumstances:
- Legal Requirements: We may disclose information if required by law, such as to comply with a subpoena, court order, or other legal process.
- App Analytics: We may use third-party analytics tools (e.g., Google Crashlytics) to collect anonymized crash reports and usage data. These tools do not collect personal information and are used solely to improve the App.
- Service Providers: If we engage service providers (e.g., for hosting crash report tools), they are bound by strict confidentiality agreements and cannot use your data for any other purpose.
5. Your Choices and Rights
You have control over your data:
- Permissions: You can revoke permissions (e.g., storage access) through your device settings, though this may limit the App’s functionality.
- Clear Data: You can clear the App’s data or uninstall the App to remove all locally stored settings and preferences.
- Data Access: Since all data is stored locally, you can access it directly on your device. We do not maintain copies of your data.
- Data Deletion: Uninstalling the App or clearing its data will delete all associated settings and preferences.
If you are in a region with specific data protection laws (e.g., GDPR in the EU, CCPA in California), you may have additional rights, such as:
- Requesting access to or deletion of your data (though we collect no personal data).
- Opting out of data sharing (not applicable, as we do not share data).
To exercise these rights, contact us (see Section 9).
6. Children’s Privacy
The App is not intended for children under 13 (or 16 in some jurisdictions, per GDPR). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with information, please contact us, and we will take steps to delete it (though we collect no personal data).
7. Third-Party Links and Services
The App does not include third-party links or integrations that collect data. Music files and metadata are accessed locally, and no external services (e.g., streaming platforms) are integrated.
8. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. We will notify you of significant changes by:
- Posting the updated policy in the App.
- Updating the “Last Updated” date at the top of this policy.
Please review this policy periodically. Your continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
